SHARPENING is done while you wait, by arrangement, at a time to suit You – on any day, including weekends and evenings.
For those interstate or intrastate, hundreds of skates have been sent to me using 3kg Express Post (overnight) satchels, and they are back with the sender on day 3, with never a loss or any damage over many years.
9 DIFFERENT GROOVES are available, from shallow for beginners, to extra deep for those who like to feel a very sharp “bite” into the ice.
In between are 7 incremental steps, allowing the skater to experiment with different grooves to find the one which best suits.
REPEATABILITY is assured from sharpen to sharpen, as records of every skater are kept. NO UNPLEASANT SURPRISES!
FINAL CHECKING is done using a very accurate method to ensure that the edges are “square”, with never one edge higher than the other. Unlike most other machines, grinding is “hands off”. The skate is fixed, and the motor driven grinder moves along the blade at a constant speed and pressure, thereby protecting the integrity of the rocker radius. Blade wastage is kept to a minimum by taking light cuts.
COMPLEMENTARY SERVICES are offered as follows:
- Fitting of blades and adjusting for the skater’s balance;
- Checking of fixing screws and replacement as necessary;
- Replacement of broken lace hooks;
- “Punching out” to relieve sore spots. OUCH!
